A beautiful art deco teapot with lid, designed by Vally Wieselthier and manufactured by Wiener Werkstätte, Vienna, Austria
It is marked on the bottom: VW
Period piece (1920 - 1929).
Measurements:
Height - 14 cms (approx. 5 1/2 inches).
Width - 30 cms (approx. 11 1/2 inches), from spout to handle
diameter (body) approx. 18 cms (7 inches)
Weight - approx. 1340 grams.
Contents - approx 3/4 liter (litre)
It is a rare find and in very good vintage condition with no chips or cracks. Some age related wear, some small manufacturing blemishes and glaze loss.
(Background information: Vally Wieselthier, a student of Josef Hoffmann and Koloman Moser, designed work for the
Wiener Werkstätte from 1912. In 1928 she emigrated to the USA and worked from her own studio.)
